Chapter Seventeen

“What is this? I have to answer to a dom female who thinks of herself as important to our new Revolution? What next will I hear? Will I have to answer to a war tribunal next, dommit? Let me explain something to you my little lady, what I’m doing here I do for the good of Cuba and her people. I’ll not allow you or any other fooking female to question my actions until that woman picks up a weapon, and she steps on the battlefield with my soldiers. Once you done this then, and only then I’ll allow you to question my ways of handling these dom civilian troublemakers, woman.” Calvo glared making her shudder from the force of hatred he displayed in his eyes.

Alvarez resented Maria challenging his soldiers, but he also knew he had to come to her aid as well. He rested his hand lightly on her shoulder as he said something to Colonel Calvo, but when she angrily shook his hand off her body, Carlos Alvarez boiled as he instantly growled at his new Colonel. “Colonel Calvo enough, do whatever you have to do in order to get control of the civilians and stop all this crying and unrest the civilians are causing my new revolution, sir.”

Maria glared angrily at Alvarez, she was stunned he agreed so easily with Colonel Calvo’s heavy handed treatment of the civilians of the city. Her look was more than enough to force him to react against her, and he snarled at her. “Maria, your place is standing by my side, and not making trouble for my soldiers hard pressed to stop the rampaging civilians for causing unrest. I’m your Presidente, and I’ll not allow anyone to look at me so, woman.” Colonel Alvarez suddenly slapped her hard across her face.

She was stunned to her soul, not so much he slapped her face. It was not the first time he done so. She was shocked because he slapped her in front of everyone standing in the room with them. She was mortified and tried to flee his side, but Alvarez took her by the hair, and accused her of being foolish. He told her she did not understand what was happening to his new revolution.

She cried from rage, she wanted to kick the arrogant and new Cuban President between his legs, and then run from him. But she also feared he would kill her if she dared to do so against him. She trembled from the terrible look locked so deep in his raging and wild eyes, as he glared harshly at her, fearing he would kill her if she did not act the way he wanted her to act. She cried for what she allowed to happen to Cuba, hating herself for backing this new madman, this new Devil of Paradise, Colonel Carlos Rafael Fernandez Alvarez.

“Don’t dare to look at me in that manner or I’ll have you taught in the proper ways of an obedient woman, Maria.”
